Generating Opportunities/Quotes/Orders from an Account

From the Account object, a standard Salesforce object, the End User has the ability to create Opportunites, Quotes, and Orders.  An Opportunity can help track the process of the sale, being a beneficial tool for forecasting.  The Quote is a document formulated to send to a prospect that details what their Order would be.  There can be multiple Quotes to an Opportunity, as Quotes are disposable.  Moving to the Order brings an extra level of rigor of validation.  The Order is a binding document that is signed by the customer to confirm what they have purchased. 

Audience : End User


Generating an Opportunity
1. Go to the Account

2. On the top of the page you will see an Opportunity link
3. Hover over the link and you will see the related list and a "New Opportunity" button
4. Click "New Opportunity" 

Generating a Quote
1. Go to the Account
2. Click "Generate Quote" 

Generating an Order
1. Go to the Account
2. Click "Generate Order" 


  • Depending on your process it might not be necessary to always have an Opportunity or Quote
  • The User can go straight from an Account to an Order depending on business process
